On the fifteenth of May in the jungle of Nool, in the heat of the day, by the cool of the pool. He was splashing, enjoying the jungle’s great joys, when Horton the elephant heard a small noise.
Today was a special day! You all remember those days when you were in school, the most special day- Field trip day. While some of our older kids were off on other field trips, I helped take the kindergarten to the movie theater to see Horton Hears a Who. This was great, particularly because the past week I have listened to more than my fair share of Hanna Montana in gym. And all the kids know every word to her songs. I think you automatically know all the words if you are under 16, or named Carrie Hartless. But anyways, we marched the 21 kindergarteners out the school and down the 3 or 4 blocks it is to the movie theater. If you’ve never walked 20 5-year olds around in public, I reccommend it. The best part was on the way back when the teacher started them off singing “high hopes” through the streets while wearing their newly acquired elephant ears. We turned more than a few heads.
The movie was great as well and the kids really enjoyed the theatre experience. I wondered if some of them had ever been to the theater before. One kid turned and asked me how the movie gets from the small screen in the back to the big one in the front. I also have come to realize that you can take any story plot about anything and put animals as the characters and animate it and it’s an instant hit with kids. Of course, this is based of the famed Dr. Seuss story. So give me a class of 5 year olds, a movie theater snack pack, some elephant ears head bands, and it will be a joyous day.

Carrie Hartless is my daughter. She hasn’t changed a bit.
