Miracles

I hear stories all the time about supposed miracles. Sometimes I feel like it’s too much of a stretch and that the people are just creating a miracle in their mind to feel special and loved because they don’t realize that they already are special in God’s eyes. Just yesterday, I heard a very touching story that wasn’t over the top, but showed God’s presence in our lives.
Josh Hamilton is a baseball player for the Texas Rangers. Just yesterday, he participated in the Home Run Derby and set a record for home runs in a round. It was amazing. What is even more astounding is that from 2002-2006 he was a heroin, cocaine, and alcohol abuser. He is a drug addict that has overcome, and is still striving everyday to overcome, the temptations he faces in life. He had a conversion experience to Christianity and now openly talks about how God helped to change his life around. Since he converted, he had a dream in which he was at Yankee Stadium hitting in the Home Run Derby. This dream took place even before anyone knew the Derby would be at Yankee Stadium. But there he was last night, entertaining the crowd and setting records at Yankee Stadium. Afterwards he thanked God for what had happened in his Life. As one announce jokingly stated, “It’s a lousy day to be an atheist.
Josh Hamilton is a fine example of God’s working in our lives. God has given him help and motivation and encouragement to change his life from drug addiction, to a premiere baseball player in the MLB. He still struggles with temptation but every day works at it. He takes drug tests every three days, and anytime he goes out at night he brings a certain friend with him. This is all for accountability, so that he may not fall back into the trap that his addiction has laid. I have a lot of respect for the man. It is certainly not the easiest thing for him, but everyday he makes the choice to continue and follow God’s plan.
